SS01 Wheelchair Simulation System

Robotics

SS01 is a measurement system created to improve seating, especially for people who use a wheelchair. The system works as a robot with fifteen actuators that move parts of the seat and adjust the rotation torque of the wheels within seconds. Several sensors record the seating position, the center of gravity, and the speed and torque of each wheel with accuracy. Many seating positions can be tested rapidly, so quantitative data and physical impressions are gathered at the same time. SS01 measures 2526 mm in width, 3950 mm in depth and 1250 mm in height.
