Pan'an Wetland Urban Park and Landscape Design
Pan'an Wetland is a wetland park created on a former coal mining subsidence area in Xuzhou, China. The design restores the damaged land instead of replacing it. Soil is rebuilt through methods such as stripping the cultivated layer and layered backfilling to recover fertility. Two rivers are linked to form a circulating water system that feeds the wetland and helps purify urban water. Native trees, shrubs and grasses support biodiversity. A zigzag plank road and a bird watching platform let visitors observe the water and land habitats.
