Banyan Pavilion Store
Banyan Pavilion is a convenience store interior in a historic district of Fuzhou, China, set beside a century old banyan tree. The existing brick structure is retained and reinforced with steel. The original facade is opened by a folding sliding door, which creates a closer connection with the street. White shelving and the edge of the banyan pool form a complete circular space. The ground is paved with permeable stone to keep water available for the tree, and a raised terrazzo platform offers outdoor seating. Hand woven rattan boards cover the shelf grid.
